If you’ve never heard of an “insta-buy” author, let me fill you in. An “insta-buy” author is an author whose work you enjoy so much that, as soon as you find out they have another book coming out, you go and buy it immediately. Whether it be through pre-order or on the day it’s released, you’re first in line. While it’s a dream of mine to be someone’s “insta-buy” author, I still have a ways to go. But, in the meantime. Here are some of mine:

Emily Henry

My partner always teases me because I never read any of the books he suggests to me but he really hit it out of the park when he got me People We Meet on Vacation. From then on, I’ve been a huge Emily Henry fan. Besides her obvious good taste in first names, Emily’s writing is completely captivating. Her dialogue is witty and sharp and her plots take the typical tropes and turn them on their head. I can only hope to be as good a writer one day.

Colleen Hoover

Back when I was in high school, I had found this author that and I would read and reread all her books over and over on my nook app. Cut to ten years later, I see this author all over bookstagram and booktok and I think, “This looks familiar...” Turns out I was a Colleen Hoover fan before it was cool. 😎 I will say, her newest stuff is definitely some of her best. I was completely hooked by Regretting You and Verity definitely held a place in my mind while I was writing my own novel.

Liane Moriarty

Author of Big Little Lies (funnily enough, a book of hers I haven’t read), Liane Moriarty holds a special place in my heart. Her story telling is incredible. You never expect the twists or turns that are going to come around the corner but they always do! While her books are mainly fiction/suspense/mystery, she’ll pepper in some romance in there which I really enjoy. I buy her books every time they come out (although these days I will admit I haven’t been able to read them as soon—but they’re on my list!)
