ARCs are out! Did you get yours?

Hello my beautiful people!

I am a tornado of emotions this week. On Sunday night, I sent out the ARCs for my upcoming novel Ink & Ambition. The feeling of satisfaction I felt when I hit that “send” button was indescribable. It’s done. It’s out there. There’s no taking it back now. The train has left the station and it will either land safely at its destination or it’ll crash and burn. On Sunday night, I didn’t think too hard about it, I just felt relief. Then, I woke up on Monday morning.

The feeling of dread hit me next. I couldn’t expect everyone to download and read it immediately, staying up all night to finish it and write a review singing its praises. Obviously. (So, why did I?) I’ve said it before: I’m a dangerous combination of eagerness and impatience. When I ended Monday review-less, I figured that was the end of that. Book sucks game over. And then came Tuesday.

I was much more realistic on Tuesday. It probably helped that I was completely distracted by a ROOT CANAL I had to get that afternoon (which turned out totally fine actually, freaked out over nothing, phew). But because of that, by Tuesday evening, I had almost forgotten that I’d even sent arcs out (the mind is a fickle thing).

Wednesday morning I woke up and immediately checked Goodreads. There was nothing there (duh) but a girl can dream. This morning started in similar fashion but with a new resolve. I needed to start being practical. People have lives and plans and I couldn’t expect them to stop everything to do a marathon read of my book AND write a review in the first 24-48 hours.

I’m ending this week (almost) with a feeling of gratitude. As of this morning, 39 people have downloaded my ARC to eventually read and that in itself is an accomplishment! I’m so grateful to everyone who’s giving my book even the slightest chance. And so from now on, no more Eager Emily. She’s being taken over by Earnest, Enduring, Elated Emily! Nice to meet you. 😊
